Death of a Veteran Actor—Mr. Samuel Drake, Sen., the venerable pioneer of the drama in the West, and the grandfather of Miss Julia Dean, the actress, died in Kentucky, near Louisville, on the 17th ult., ath the age of eighty-seven years. Mr. Drakewas a native of England, but settled in the West about 1816, and has since then managed theaters at Louisville, Cincinnati, Lexington and Frankfort. He was the father of Samuel, Alexander, Julia and James G. Drake, Mrs Duckham and Georgiana, persons of the drama who won consideral renown and were more than ordinarily gifted people. His youngest son, Samuel G. Drake, was best known as a writer of exquisite taste.
